Bruce Paisner is a vice president of The Hearst Corporation. Paisner is also
executive vice president of Hearst Entertinment & Syndication, the operating
group responsible for Hearst's interests in cable television networks,
television production and distribution, newspaper syndication and
merchandise licensing. He is also president of Hearst Entertainment, Inc.,
which produces reality programming and administers distribution of Hearst's
TV movie library.
Paisner began his media career in 1964 as a correspondent for Life magazine
in New York and Washington, D.C. After attending law school, he rejoined
Time Inc. in 1968. He served as assistant to the chairman of the board and, in
1970, became general manager of Time-Life Video. From 1973 to 1980,
Paisner was president and chief executive officer of Time-Life Films, Inc. and
a vice president of Time Incorporated.
In 1980, Paisner became president, chief executive officer, and co-owner
(with WGBH-TV, Boston) of Novacom, Inc., a television production and
distribution company. In 1981, Novacom was acquired by Hearst Corporation.
Paisner joined Hearst as president of King Features Entertainment,
responsible for marketing Hearst’s library of animated cartoons and acquiring
distribution rights to TV movies. In 1986, he was given the additional title of
executive vice president of King Features Syndicate. In 1989, King Features
was put together with Hearst’s cable network interests in the new
Entertainment & Syndication Group, and Paisner became deputy group head
of the new Group. At that time, King Features Entertainment was renamed
Hearst Entertainment.
Paisner serves on the boards of directors of Lifetime Entertainment Services,
A&E Network, The History Channel, Cosmopolitan Channel Iberia,
Cosmopolitan Channel Latin America and the Locomotion animation channel.
He is President and Chief Executive Officer of the International Academy of
Television Arts & Sciences, the largest organization of global broadcasters,
with representatives from over 60 countries on its Board. He is also a member
of the Council on Foreign Relations.
Paisner is a graduate of Harvard University’s Harvard College, where he was
managing editor of The Crimson. He holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School
and was admitted to the New York Bar in 1968.
